Protection and Control Panels

1. Control & Relay Panels (CRP)

  • Houses relays, meters, and control switches for substation equipment.
  • Used for monitoring and controlling circuit breakers and isolators.
  • Ensures protection and automation of substation operations.

2. Protection Panels

  • Equipped with protective relays for transformers, feeders, and bus bars.
  • Includes differential, distance, overcurrent, and earth fault relays.
  • Ensures quick isolation of faulty sections to prevent damage.

3. SCADA (Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition) Panels

  • Facilitates remote monitoring and control of substation operations.
  • Collects real-time data for automation and analysis.
  • Enables centralized command execution.

4. RTU (Remote Terminal Unit) Panels

  • Connects field devices (breakers, transformers) to SCADA.
  • Transmits data to control centers for remote operation.
  • Essential for smart grid integration.

5. PLC (Programmable Logic Controller) Panels

  • Used for automation and control of substation operations.
  • Executes predefined logic sequences for protection and control.
  • Interfaces with SCADA and other control systems.

6. Metering Panels

  • Houses energy meters, transducers, and recorders.
  • Measures power flow, voltage, current, and frequency.
  • Used for energy management and billing in substations.

7. Synchronization Panels

  • Ensures proper synchronization of generators or multiple power sources.
  • Matches voltage, frequency, and phase before connection.
  • Prevents damage due to improper phase alignment.

8. Busbar Protection Panels

  • Provides protection for busbars in case of short circuits or faults.
  • Uses differential protection relays to isolate faulty sections.
  • Critical for substation reliability.

9. Feeder Panels

  • Controls outgoing feeders from a substation.
  • Includes circuit breakers, isolators, and protection relays.
  • Protects transmission and distribution lines.

10. Transformer Protection Panels

  • Monitors and protects power transformers from faults like overcurrent, differential faults, and temperature rise.
  • Includes Buchholz relay, temperature indicators, and oil level monitoring.
  • 11. Breaker Control Panels
  • Provides operational control and monitoring of circuit breakers.
  • Includes trip/close switches, status indicators, and interlocking mechanisms.

12. Battery Charger & DC Distribution Panels

  • Ensures a continuous DC power supply for critical substation equipment.
  • Charges batteries used for emergency backup power.
  • Distributes DC power to protection and control circuits.

13. Annunciation Panels

  • Alerts operators about faults, alarms, and abnormal conditions.
  • Uses visual indicators and buzzers to provide warnings.
  • Helps in quick fault identification and resolution.
